In addressing the massive teacher retention crisis, Florida Education Association partnered with six local districts in its FEA Leads conference in which we created projects to address the specific needs related to teacher retention in our own schools.
Bradford High School representatives created a supplement to the current district mentoring program that held two main components:
- An informal “buddy” system in which experienced teachers with specific skills reached out to new teachers who had needs related to the skills
- A system of needs-based professional development
